Start of Something New...
My first week of school just ended! Haha. I'm glad cos the past few days were just a flurry of classes, names and faces... which somehow don't match each other. Ok fine. I've got lousy short termed memory. Many changes from a system I've been stuck in for the past 11 years in school...
I've got a HUGE locker. At least twice the size of lockers in SA... but I've got problems reaching it cos it's right on top. =.= (i'm short. so what.)
I actually don't have a fixed class. I go to a lot of classes and see lots of different people. Each subject's another class of totally different people. For the first time in my long/short journey through education, NONE of the teachers waste time asking stupid questions like
" What are your hobbies? Why you like/hate this subject? INTRODUCE YOURSELF. "
Here I'm forced into taking my own initiative to say hi to the strange looking person(no offence meant.) sitting beside me in class. Not that i don't like this... In fact, I love it!! It's so much more practical than playing whacko so you'll remember who's who. It's also a very good opportunity to practice small talk with just some random person in class... And it's all up to you whether you want to get to know people or be a complete loner and not talk to anyone. It's MY choice who I want to be friends with, not just dumped into a class where you're strongly obliged to get to know everyone. Back in Singapore, I know I'm the kind of person who doesn't like talking to people I don't know well/at all unless that person comes to me first. But well, I'm getting used to the random walking up to anybody you see along the corridoor and saying "You look familiar... Are you in so and so's class?" Voila! I've got a new friend.
This is the first time I'm seeing Cheeena people academically worse off than me. (WHAT...) I know I sound like some country bumpkin but HEY! I spent 4 years in a top girls school(and proud of it.) and all the cheeena people were freaking chinese calculators/encylopedias/geniuses! It's quite a revelation for me. But oh well... I've NEVER EVER seen so many cheena people in school before. One of my maths class' 15/20 full of them. Oh btw, the 2 kinds of maths i'm taking... They're actually what sg calls MATHEMATICS H2. hahaha! Piece of cake! I'm like more or less redoing what I did in J1. Curve sketching, etc etc... and that's the 'chimmest' maths this level. (Supposedly tougher than F Maths.) and I love this part... During the official exam, students are allowed to bring their notes in!! =) You can even bring the textbook in if you want. I LOVE SCHOOL.
Haha. I've met a few other Singaporeans here too. Pretty nice people. I've never been to a more multicultural school than this. I've got friends from Kuwait, M'sia, a few from China, Indonesia, India, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and at least 5 from Sg. >.< So many... I've got a hard time keeping track.
Anyway it's dinner time... ok till next time!
